How to apply for a belgium study visa from Pakistan in 2026 Complete Procedure

If you are thinking about studying in Belgium and want to apply for a study visa from Pakistan, and you do not have any information about how to start, then do not worry. I will explain the complete procedure from start to finish, step by step, how you can apply for a Belgium student visa.

First, let’s talk about why you should apply to Belgium and why it is a good option for you in Europe. The student visa ratio for Belgium is almost 90% or more, and students can easily get admission here, especially if you are talking about a bachelor’s degree. The visa application process is also very easy, and every student can do it by themselves. The main point is that you can book your visa appointment through VFS, and you can easily get an appointment within one to two weeks.

Step by Step Complete Guide

You will need to complete all documents before applying for a visa, and after that, you will have to get them attest from the relevant authority. After that, you can start your visa process and i will guide you complete visa process as same i did for my study visa.

The documents required are as follows:

  • CV
  • Passport
  • Enrollment Letter
  • Health Insurance
  • Proof of Solvency
  • Medical Certificate
  • European Size Photo
  • Visa Application Form
  • Vfs Appointment Letter
  • Previous Degree Certificates
  • Identity Card Scanned Copies
  • Passport Bio Page Scanned Copies

First of all, you have to find your university. After finding the university, you have to select your relevant course in it, bachelors or masters, and then you have to find your field, whether it is computer science, business, automobile, multimedia or whichever field you want to take admission in. When you find your field and relevant course, then you have to apply for admission in that university.

Universities in Belgium for International Students

You have to match your academic requirements. In whichever university your academic requirements and English proficiency requirements are being met, you have to apply for admission in that. And as soon as you receive the offer letter, first of all you have to pay the tuition fee, and as soon as your tuition fee is paid, the university will release your final enrollment letter. As soon as you receive the final enrollment letter, after that you have to email the university and request that I have to pay the proof of solvency which is the block account which is around €13,000 for Belgium student visa, so then request your university to share bank details. When the university shares the bank account details with you, then you have to take the same details and go to the bank, and from there you have to pay your block account. So as soon as your block account is paid, the university will provide you with a proof of solvency certificate. So your documents will be complete.

Now you can book your visa appointment through VFS. To book a visa appointment, first of all you have to go to the IBZ website where you have to fill the visa application form for long term visa type D. When you fill the application form, after that you have to submit it, then it will redirect you to the VFS website where you have to book your appointment. There you will be shown different slots for the appointment, from which you have to select the date which is near and on which you can comfortably go and submit your documents. You have to book the appointment at the VFS office which is nearest to your city, and there are three VFS offices, one in Islamabad, the second in Lahore, and the third in Karachi, so if you do not get an appointment in your nearest office, you can take it in another city as well, but that is at quite a distance, so I would prefer that you take it in the nearest city and keep checking appointments daily as they also open later with time. So as soon as your appointment slot is confirmed, you have to select it and through your debit card pay €40 which is the VFS fee. After that VFS will provide you with a receipt in which there will be confirmation of the visa fee, so you have to take that.

Contribution Fee for Belgium Study Visa

Now you have to pay the contribution fee, which is very important. When you submit your visa documents, give your interview, and submit your visa file, if your contribution fee is not paid, your visa can also be rejected. You have to pay €377 to the Belgium immigration bank account which is a latest fee in 2026, on which you have to mention your last name, date of birth, and nationality as reference, and the complete details of this you will find on the IBZ website, which I have also provided to you here. So go there, provide your complete details, and after paying the contribution fee, you have to attach its receipt with your visa file.

And €180 visa application fee is different from this, which you have to take in cash to the VFS center and pay there, and it should be in euros and fresh currency.

Approved Doctors for Medical

Now you have to take an appointment from a doctor approved by the Belgian Embassy and then get your medical done from him, the total cost of which will be up to 125$, and in Pakistani rupees it will be around 28,000 to 30,000. So first of all you have to call the doctor and take an appointment. When the doctor gives you an appointment, on that date you have to go and give your blood samples to the doctor. Then the doctor will provide you the medical certificate on the same day in a sealed envelope, and you must not open this sealed envelope. You have to directly submit this sealed envelope to VFS along with your documents.

Now you have to properly arrange all the documents and make three sets of them, one set of original documents and two sets of copies. Now you have to take all these documents and go to the VFS center, and when your appointment is scheduled, it is recommended that you reach outside the VFS office one hour before it because there is a lot of rush there, and you have to take a print of the VFS appointment letter and keep it in your hand, which is checked by the security guard at the gate at the time of your entry. And when you enter from there, you have to submit your mobile phone and smartwatch or any such gadgets there, as they are not allowed to be taken inside.

And when you go inside, there you have to first go and make your entry, where you will get a token, and based on this token your appointment time will be. If your appointment letter shows time 11:00 Am, it can also be 11:30, so then you have to sit there and wait for your appointment. Alright, now as soon as your turn comes, you have to take all the documents and go to the counter, and there you have to submit all the documents one by one. When your file is completed there, they will put all the documents in an envelope and give it to you, and right there you also have to submit your visa application fee of €180 in cash. Taking that, you have to go to the next room for biometrics, where your biometrics will be done, and they will take the envelope of all your documents from you, and they will give you a visa interview appointment letter, which will be for your visa interview after one week. So you have to take that and come back, and based on that you have to start your visa interview preparation.

Belgium embassy has a student visa interview which can be oral and a written fourteen pages questionnaire is a must, on the basis of which oral can also be conducted if you have mentioned something in it that is not understood by the visa officer, and in it there are questions related to like your financial conditions as well, such as who has sponsored you, what is your previous degree, and the bachelors or masters you are going to do in future, what is your field, which course it is, what are your future plans after study, such types of questions are there. When your interview is done, after two to three weeks you will be informed via email to collect your passport, and if you do not receive the email, it means your file can also be forwarded to Belgium Brussels immigration, and if your file is forwarded then you can check your visa status on the IBZ website. So this is the complete process of belgian student study in 2026.
