Amir Siraj-ul-Haq of Jamaat-e-Islami termed the resolution passed regarding the postponement of the election as a conspiracy against the country and democracy.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq has said in a statement that the decision to postpone the elections is a conspiracy against the country and democracy. It is tantamount to surrendering to the agitators.
Sirajul Haq said that peace and stability in the country will come only through transparent and timely elections. It is the right of the people to elect their representatives through transparent elections. The people cannot be deprived of this basic right under any circumstances.
He demanded that Jamaat-e-Islami wants fair and transparent elections in the entire country on February 8.
At the time of passing the resolution, 14 members were present in the House and on this occasion PTI member Gardeep Singh opposed the resolution.
The resolution was also opposed by the Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi, however, the resolution presented the second time was also approved by majority vote.
Siraj-ul-Haq said that Jamaat-e-Islami wants clean and transparent elections in the entire country, people should actively participate in the elections on February 8 and stamp the scales. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami is participating in the election from 231 constituencies of the National Assembly, while it will participate in the election from 535 provincial constituencies.
The resolution to postpone the election in the Senate is actually someone’s desire and conspiracy to postpone the election, which has no constitutional and legal status.
It should be noted that the general elections in the country are to be held on February 8, for which preparations are underway while the Election Commission has also released the election schedule.
The Chief Justice of Pakistan had remarked during the hearing of the case that the decision of the election on February 8 in the country is set in stone.
Muslim League (N) Senator Afnanullah opposed the resolution and said that the security situation in 2013 was worse than today, the election should not be postponed by justifying the security issue.
There was an uproar in the House on the expression of Senator Afnanullah, however, he continued his speech and said that there are wishes of many people to postpone the elections, elections are not held in the country on the wish of anyone but according to the constitution.
